Eagle Ford Rig Count Unchanged

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count remained flat this week, making it the third week in a row ending with 44 rigs running across our coverage area.

In recent Eagle Ford news, UT’s Bureau of Economic Geology released new and unpublished research this week that shows Eagle Ford companies could potentially recover 10 billion barrels of oil at today’s prices.

A total of 505 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, a decrease of 1 from last week of two.  89 rigs targeted natural gas (three less than the previous week) and 416 were targeting oil in the U.S. (two more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 244 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

5 rigs in the Eagle Ford region targeted natural gas this week with the commodity trading at $2.95/mmbtu.

The Eagle Ford rigs targeting oil were at 39 with WTI oil prices dipping $2.85 to $43.03 . 

A total of 38 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, one is drilling directional wells and five are vertical.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count remained flat this week, ending with 44 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Economist Karr Ingham of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers says operators across the state have begin to add jobs back for the first time since 2015.

A total of 506 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, an increase of 11 from last week of two.  92 rigs targeted natural gas (four more than the previous week) and 414 were targeting oil in the U.S. (seven more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 245 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count gained four this week, ending with 44 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, a new study focusing on the Eagle Ford Shale Play, finds that air contamination around fracking sites is likely not inherent to the oil and gas extraction process.

A total of 495 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, an increase of eight from last week of two.  88 rigs targeted natural gas (seven more than the previous week) and 407 were targeting oil in the U.S. (one more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 241 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Eagle Ford Operators Put Rigs Back Online

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count fell again this week, ending with40 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Matador Resources CEO, Joseph Foran, said that the company has done virtually no drilling in the Eagle Ford this year and that the area is not as strategic to the company as it has been in the past. He also revealed that the company is open to opportunities to part with some or all of its Eagle Ford assets.

A total of 487 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, a decrease from last week of two. The losses were from rigs targeting natural gas, leaving 81 gas rigs running (two less than the previous week) and 406 were targeting oil in the U.S. (10 more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 237 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The Eagle Ford rigs targeting oil dropped to 33 with WTI oil prices continuing upwards to $48.52, a $4.03 increase this week. 

A total of 37 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, one is drilling directional wells and four are vertical.
