Lewis Energy Group
Lewis Energy Group (Lewis Petroleum Properties) is privately held E&P company based in Ecinal, TX. The company was an early pioneer in the Eagle Ford Shale. The company drilled the first Eagle Ford targeted well in 2002 and went on to further test the formation over the next several years. The company is vertically integrated, which helps control costs throughout oil & gas price cycles. Lewis leveraged its early experience into what is now considered a leading position in the play, with industry experts estimating the company holds more than 400,000 acres. According to Lewis, "We control our own destiny—by owning our own rigs, completions, and continually expanding our operations." Headquarters are in Ecinal, TX.
The company is partnered in a joint venture with BP across much of its Eagle Ford position in Dimmit County, La Salle County, and Webb County. BP announced in early 2012 that its Eagle Ford position had reached 450,000 net acres and Lewis' interest in that acreage has not been publicized.
