Eagle Ford Shale Rig Count - April 22, 2011
This week the Eagle Ford Shale rig count is down to 189 active drilling rigs from the prior week's count of 193. The gas rig count fell from 115 to 110 rigs drilling, while the oil rig count is 70 down from 78 active rigs. One rig is drilling an injection well. Horizontal rigs account for 164 of the 189 rigs drilling in the South Texas region. Atascosa County was down 4 rigs for the week, but we assume these are likely moving within the county and will be back to work soon. Drilling activity should continue to climb as operators finalize JV agreements and begin putting capital to work. Stay tuned each week for an update on the South Texas rig count.
