The Eagle Ford Shale rig count fell by seven this week ending at 129 rigs running across our coverage by midday Thursday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, the Texas legislature last week to move forward with House Bill 40, which strips local authorities of power to regulate oil and gas in their own cities.

The U.S. rig count fell again this week by another 22 ending at 932 rigs running by midday Friday.  A total of 225 rigs were targeting natural gas (and increase of eight  from the previous week) and 703 were targeting oil in the U.S. (31 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 393 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Eagle Ford Oil & Gas Rigs

By Midday Friday, natural gas rigs increased by one, totalling 18 rigs. Natural gas prices decreased $.10 from the previous week landing at at $2.5363/mmbtu by week’s end. .

The oil rig count fell to 111 rigs this week.  WTI oil prices increased $1.60 from the previous week, trading at $57.34/bbl on Friday afternoon.. A total of 123 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, zero rigs are drilling directional wells, and vertical rigs increased to seven.  Karnes (19), Webb (19), LaSalle (17) and DeWitt (16),  have the highest rig counts this week. The Eagle Ford Shale rig count fell by one this week ending at 136 rigs running across our coverage by midday Thursday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, another round of layoffs hit the Texas energy industry early this week as manufacturers and service companies struggle with the global crude collapse.

The U.S. rig count fell another 34 to 954 rigs running as of today. A total of 217 rigs were targeting natural gas (a decrease of eight  from the previous week) and 734 were targeting oil in the U.S. (26 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 412 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The oil rig count fell to 136 rigs this week.  WTI oil prices increased $4.10 from the previous week, trading at $55.74/bbl on Friday afternoon.. Texas Rigs Continue to Decrease

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count fell by 13 this week ending at 137 rigs running across our coverage by midday Thursday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Mexico plans to move forward on pipeline initiatives that will impact the Eagle Ford in Texas despite low crude prices. The state power company (CFE) has initiated an aggressive construction campaign that includes $3.3 billion to be spent on 12 natural gas and electricity projects.

The U.S. rig count fell another 40 to 988 rigs running as of today. A total of 225 rigs were targeting natural gas (an increase of three from the previous week) and 760 were targeting oil in the U.S. (52 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 427 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count remained flat this week ending at 150 rigs running across our coverage by midday Thursday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, the Texas legislature has introduced legislation in both houses that would remove local control over oil and gas activities within cities give it back to the states. The “Denton Fracking Bill” (SB 1165) unanimously passed and asserts that current statutes are already so effective that additional local regulations aren’t necessary.

The U.S. rig count fell another 20 to 1028 rigs running as of today. A total of 211 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 11 from the previous week) and 812 were targeting oil in the U.S. (1 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 456 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

The oil rig count remained flat at 137 rigs running by midday. WTI oil prices decreased $.91 from the previous week, trading at $49.14/bbl on Friday afternoon and EF light fell $.25 to $47.75. The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by three to 153 rigs running across our coverage by midday Friday.

In recent Eagle Ford news, TxDOT reveals that Texas oil regions saw a surge in traffic deaths in 2014 including 272 people who died  in traffic accidents in the Eagle Ford. Roadways have continued to deteriorate over the past few years as more traffic and heavy trucks damage roads and make for unsafe conditions.

A total of 233 rigs were targeting natural gas (down nine from the previous week) and 814 were targeting oil in the U.S. (41 less than the previous week). In recent Eagle Ford news, it is predicted that several states will face a serious economic fallout from the drastic drop in prices. As the largest oil producing state in the country, Texas surely will feel the effects. But, exactly how are low oil prices affecting the Texas economy? As it turns out, Texas may not be as vulnerable as first imagined.

A total of 268 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 12 from the previous week) and 922 were targeting oil in the U.S. (64 less than the previous week). In recent Eagle Ford news, Swift Energy reported a net loss for the fourth quarter of 2014 of $10.9 million, compared to a net income of $4.7 million in the same quarter in 2013. The company anticipates it will slash 2015 spending by an astonishing 70%.

Eagle Ford Rig Count Down to 188

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by four to 188 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Devon Energy announced it finished an outstanding year as it rebounded from a $20 million net loss in 2013 to end 2014 with net earnings of $1.6 billion. The company’s Q4 total production rose 20% to 239,000 barrels per day, which represents a 48% increase from 2013.

The U.S. rig count fell another 43 to 1267 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 280 rigs were targeting natural gas (down nine from the previous week) and 986 were targeting oil in the U.S. (33 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc). 570 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Baker Hughes reports its own Eagle Ford Rig Count that covers the 14 core counties (181 rigs). The rig count published on EagleFordShale.com includes a 30 county area impacted by Eagle Ford development. A full list of the counties included can be found in the table near the bottom of this article.

Eagle Ford Oil & Gas Rigs

Natural gas increased to 24 rigs running by the end of yesterday. Natural gas prices decreased by $.22 from the previous week at $2.72/mmbtu on Friday afternoon.

The oil rig count decreased by four to 188 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices decreased by $1.66 from the previous week, trading at $48.84/bbl on Friday afternoon.  A total of 173 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, three rigs are drilling directional wells, and vertical rigs remained at 12 total.  Karnes (28), Dimmit (22), and DeWitt (22) have the highest rig counts this week. Eagle Ford Rig Counts Down

The Eagle Ford Shale rig count decreased by four to 192 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Eagle Ford news, Chesapeake Energy filed a lawsuit against American Energy Partners. The suit alleges former CEO Aubrey McClendon stole confidential documents including maps of oil and gas prospects before leaving the company in 2013.

The U.S. rig count fell another 48 to 1310 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 289 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 11 from the previous week) and 1019 were targeting oil in the U.S. (37 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 576 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in Texas.

Natural gas remained flat at 22 rigs running by the end of yesterday. Natural gas prices increased by $.14 from the previous week at $2.94/mmbtu on Friday afternoon.

The oil rig count decreased by four to 192 rigs running by the end of last week. WTI oil prices decreased by $2.14 from the previous week, trading at $50.50/bbl on Friday morning. A total of 177 rigs are drilling horizontal wells, three rigs are drilling directional wells, and vertical rigs increased by three to 12 total.  Karnes (28), Dimmit (24), and DeWitt (23) have the highest rig counts this week.
