In May 2015,Repsol S.A. announced it would take over Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX: TLM) (NYSE: TLM)  by way of an arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act. Before that, Talisman shortly was involved in a JV agreement with Statoil of Norway in which the companies  jointly developed the Eagle Ford Shale that included over 85,000 net acres across the liquids-rich window of the play.

Repsol and Statoil have agreed to establish a single operatorship (Statoil) in Eagle Ford, that will help ensure operations become more efficient, through optimal field developments and cost savings, and thus more resilient to low oil prices. After the transaction Repsol retains 37% of the Eagle Ford project.

The Company is continuing to build operational momentum in the Eagle Ford and is currently running 12 rigs and 2 dedicated frac crews. Drilling performance is improving all the time, and Talisman expects to hold 12 rigs through the rest of this year. And they've not changed their plans in the Duvernay, where they'll complete a 6-well pilot program through the remainder of this year.

Spending in the liquids-rich Eagle Ford play will increase from $350 million last year to $500 million in 2012. The company expects to exit 2012 with 14 rigs, up from 10 at the end of 2011.

In the liquids-rich Eagle Ford shale, Talisman will increase to 10 drilling rigs in the fourth quarter and has two full-time frac crews operating. Well results are in line with expectations and production is expected to average approximately 30 mmcfe/d in 2011.

""...In the liquids-rich Eagle Ford shale play, we now have six rigs running and are planning to build to 10 by year-end. In the Montney shale, we are operating 10 rigs and closed the second transaction with Sasol during the quarter, for approximately C$1 billion, including certain future development costs....

...In the Eagle Ford shale, Talisman USA drilled 10 gross (four net) horizontal development wells during the quarter for a total of 19 gross wells (seven net) in the first six months of 2011. Production averaged 16 mmcfe/d for the quarter. The company has six rigs operating in the area, with plans to increase this to 10 by year-end.

Earlier this year, the partners agreed to use dedicated frac crews in the Eagle Ford rather than pay significantly higher spot rates. These crews are up and running; however, the result will be fewer wells and lower production for the year than anticipated. During the quarter, the partners also reached agreement to acquire additional acreage in the Eagle Ford.... "

"We are ramping up activity in the Eagle Ford with five rigs now in operation

In the liquids rich Eagle Ford shale play, the company drilled nine gross (three net) wells. Talisman continues to ramp up drilling activity and exited the quarter with five rigs. Completions activities started at the end of March. Production averaged 23 mmcfe/d (net to Talisman) during the first quarter."
